METROCARDS
Your chapter will be responsible for the costs of Metrocards (for MTA subway/bus fare).
Those who are taking the train to the hotel will need to buy a Metrocard when they arrive at Penn Station/Grand Central/Port Authority/GWB. Those who are driving in to the hotel will need to purchase a Metrocard when heading to CCNY. We advise buying it before you check in so we can avoid a crowd of Tau Bates on line waiting to buy their Metrocards.
The fare for one ride is $2.25 for both subways and buses. You will need at least 3 rides (1 to CCNY on Saturday, 1 back to the hotel Saturday, 1 to CCNY on Sunday). Keep in mind, this is NYC! You may want to sightsee and go out Saturday night and you will need your Metrocard to get around. You may need more than 3 rides on your Metrocard. Check out the MTA site.
$8.00 - This costs $8.00 with an extra $1.20 on it - for a total of $9.20 on your Metrocard! (4 rides, with 20¢ left over)
$10.00 - This costs $10.00, with an extra $1.50 on it - for a total of $11.50 on your Metrocard! (5 rides, with 25¢ left over)
$20.00 - This costs $20.00, with an extra $3.00 on it - for a total of $23.00 on your Metrocard! (10 rides, with 50¢ left over)
Up to 4 people can share one metrocard if you are all traveling together.
Reimbursement Policy:
-- On-site expenses (meals and hotel rooms): We will pay for up to 4 students per chapter. If you would like to bring more than 4 students, your chapter will be billed for their on-site expenses (around $90 per person). In addition, we will cover on-site expenses for all advisors.
-- Transportation expenses: If you drive, we will reimburse 25 cents per mile plus tolls, for one car per chapter. If you are taking public transportation, we will cover your costs, but you must get prior approval from your District Director for costs over $250 per chapter.
-- For any NYC chapter wishing to bring more than 4 persons, it will be charged an estimation of $40 per person (this includes registration and meals but not hotel rooms). Exact costs will be determined prior to the conference.
